Optical Dust Sensor with Cable

This PM2.5 GP2Y1010AU0F Dust Smoke Particle Sensor is an infrared emitting diode (IRED) and a phototransistor is diagonally arranged into this device. It detects the reflected light of dust in the air. Especially, it is effective to detect very fine particles like cigarette smoke. In addition, it can distinguish smoke from house dust by the pulse pattern of the output voltage.

The module is mainly used for dust removal equipment alarm equipment, air purification equipment, dust robots, fire alarm, etc. industry equipment can detect smoke particles, pollen spores, and other particles. The sensor has a very low current consumption (20mA max, 11mA typical), and can be powered with up to 7VDC. The output of the sensor is an analog voltage proportional to the measured dust density, with a sensitivity of 0.5V/0.1mg/m3.

Applications:

  • Detecting dust in the air.
  • Air purifier, Air conditioner, the Air monitor.
  • Fire alarm
  • Dust robots

Package Includes:

  • 1 x Optical Dust Sensor

1. What is the basic working principle of the optical dust sensor?

  • The air enters the sensor through an air inlet valve, where an infrared LED light is turned on and off repeatedly. The dust particles in the air are illuminated by this infrared light.

2. How do you use a dust sensor?

  • Connect the dust sensor to the Arduino. Connect the 3.3V/5V pin on the Arduino board to the Vcc pin on the dust sensor module. Connect the V-LED of the sensor to the 100-ohm resistor. Connect the sensor's LED-GND and S-GND pins to the Arduino's ground pin.

3. How does dust get measured?

  • The dust index is then calculated by measuring the light that is diffusely scattered through the foil and calibrating it against the area covered by dust, in percent, as determined by microscopy.

4. Where is the optical dust sensor module most commonly used?

  • The module is mainly used for dust removal equipment alarm equipment, air purification equipment, dust robots, fire alarm, etc. industry equipment can detect smoke particles, pollen spores, and other particles. The sensor has a very low current consumption (20mA max, 11mA typical), and can be powered with up to 7VDC.
